Thank You to All Soiree Attendees and Sponsors!
On Friday, September 26, SPAN supporters and staff gathered to celebrate the end of summer, the start of the school year, and to share in a collective mission of uplifting children, youth and families. We also presented two awards to deserving individuals who have epitomized community service and family leadership.
SPAN’s Guardian of Community Award was presented to New Jersey Attorney General, Matthew Platkin in recognition of his unwavering dedication, exemplary leadership, and tireless commitment to strengthening our community. His efforts have made a lasting impact, inspiring others and fostering hope, equity, and opportunity for all.
Attorney General Platkin was honored for his leadership in:
- Promoting anti-bias initiatives for K–12 students
- Advancing youth justice reform
- Protecting students with disabilities and their civil rights
- Providing guidance to prevent discriminatory school discipline
- Engaging the community in all aspects of his work
SPAN also applauds his role in defending New Jersey programs and families through nearly 33 multi-state lawsuits, including actions protecting students with disabilities from federal policy changes. His advocacy demonstrates unwavering courage and a steadfast commitment to the rights of the communities SPAN serves.
Our Parent Champion Award was presented to Susan Coll-Guedes, M.Ed. in honor of her outstanding advocacy, dedication, and leadership in supporting families. Her commitment to empowering parents and strengthening communities has made a meaningful and lasting impact.
Attendees enjoyed great food, drinks, conversation and a wonderful opportunity to network and share experiences – all to benefit SPAN and our mission.
