Beyond the Bell: Building a Community-Wide Attendance Team

Chronic absenteeism is a complex challenge that requires more than a school-based solution. This workshop brings together school staff and community-based organizations (CBOs) to explore how a coordinated, community-wide approach can better support student attendance and engagement.

 

Participants will learn how to build a multi-tiered system of support that identifies attendance barriers early, responds with targeted interventions, and connects students and families to meaningful resources.

 

 The session highlights the importance of collaboration across schools, families, and community partners to address underlying factors such as transportation, health, family responsibilities, and school climate.

 

Through practical strategies and real-world examples, attendees will gain tools to develop strong attendance teams, improve data-informed decision-making, and create sustainable systems that promote consistent attendance.
