October is National Bullying Prevention Month
Every child deserves to feel safe, respected, and included at school, online, and in their community. October is National Bullying Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness about bullying and encourage kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.
Bullying affects too many young people. In fact, one in five students reports being bullied. Families, educators, and communities all have a role to play in preventing bullying, supporting children who experience it, and creating safe places where every child can thrive.
On Wednesday, October 21, we celebrate Unity Day. Everyone is encouraged to wear orange to show support for bullying prevention and send a message of kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.
SPAN offers a new resource for families, the Family Guide on Bullying Prevention, to help parents and caregivers better understand and address bullying.
We also invite you to watch SPAN’s Preventing and Addressing Bullying: Tools and Resources webinar that took place on October 5th.
