Pam Aasen, Director of SPAN’s Early Hearing Detection & Intervention (EHDI) Mentoring & Family Engagement Project, has published a feature in Exceptional Parent magazine’s December 2019 issue. “Advocating as a Family in the Community” is a story of Pam’s two sons, both born with Usher Syndrome, and how they as a family have grown and become self-advocates as well as mentors for others. Pam says telling her story has fulfilled a life goal for her. Others who have read her article and have children with Usher Syndrome say it has helped them find where to start in their own journeys advocating for their kids. SPAN is delighted to share this article with everyone. Congratulations, Pam!
