JUNE 2020
The SPAN Parent Advocacy Network (SPAN) is immensely proud to announce that our own Executive Director, Diana Autin, has been presented with the 2021 Family Voices Health Equity Champion Award.
This award is given annually by Family Voices, a national family-led organization of families and friends of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) and disabilities that connects a network of family organizations across the U.S. that provide support to families of CYSHCN.
Diana was presented with the award on June 15 during the 2021 Family Voices Leadership Conference. It is awarded to an individual who has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to health equity. Fittingly, the award was presented to Diana prior to the conference equity panel discussion, of which SPAN was a sponsor.
As the Executive Director of SPAN for over a quarter of a century, Diana has led the creation of the organization’s vision “that all families will have the resources and support they need to ensure that their children become fully participating and contributing members of our communities and society, and our foremost commitment is to children and families with the greatest need due to disability or special health/mental health needs; poverty; discrimination based on race/ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, language, immigrant or homeless status; involvement in the child welfare or juvenile justice systems; geographic location; or other special circumstances.”
