The Latest News on Changes to NJ Statewide Assessments

     On July 10, Commissioner Lamont O. Repollet and the NJDOE Assessment team released the assessment tour report and proposed regulations which will be presented to the State Board of Education tomorrow.
The proposed changes for State Board review include:
  • Streamlining graduation requirements by reducing the number of required tests in high school from six to two.
  • Ensuring that educators and parents receive test data in a timely manner.
  • Providing flexibility for first-year English learners on the English language proficiency test.

SPAN Awarded Funding to Continue as NJ's Family to Family Health Information Center!

SPAN Connecting to International Disability Advocacy Efforts

In October 2016, The Statewide Parent Advocacy Network (SPAN) hosted Jessica Lim, a Fellow from Brunei. Jessica works in Brunei, South Asia, at Learning Ladders, a non-profit organization that provides services to children with autism spectrum disorders. During her stay in the U.S., Jessica was deeply involved for three weeks in SPAN activities. She learned how SPAN is committed to empowering families as advocates and partners in improving education, health, and mental health outcomes for infants, toddlers, children and youth.
