Essex Family Council & Grandmothers as Caregivers

The Essex Family Council is composed of parents and grandparents of children, youth, and young adults in Essex County.  The vision of the Essex County Family Council (ECFC) is partnership between strong, powerful, unified families and compassionate, understanding professionals in systems that are accountable and meet the needs of all children and families.  In unity, the ECFC works with empowered families to challenge and advocate for changes in current policies and systems that affect our lives.  Grandmothers as Caregivers is a committee of the Essex Family Council.  Its members organize and facilitate an annual Grandmothers a Caregivers: Taking Care of You! conference each year to provide information and support around health and mental health, including healthy eating/nutrition, exercise, and emotional support.  The Essex Family Council has a facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/search/str/Essex%20Family%20Council/keywords_to...

We provide information, training, support and leadership development to parents and grandparents in Essex County, especially those who are raising children, youth and young adults with special needs, including mental health needs.  Essex Family Council members disseminate information throughout their communities and participate in advisory groups to bring the perspective of families to the table.  The EFC Grandmothers as Caregivers Committee also puts on an annual conference for over 100 grandmothers who are raising their grandchildren to help them take better care of themselves and their grandchildren.
